Sam Zell is the Chairman of Equity Group Investments (EGI), the private investment firm he founded more than 40 years ago. The firm's investments span industries and continents and include interests in finance, energy, transportation, communications, health care and real estate. Mr. Zell is recognized as a founding father of today's public real estate industry after creating three of the largest REITs in history.
He is also Founder and Chairman of Equity International, a private investment firm focused on building real estate-related businesses in international emerging markets. Mr. Zell has been particularly active in bringing Equity International's companies to the public markets.
Three of these investments are listed on the New York Stock Exchange: Gafisa, a leading homebuilder in Brazil; Xinyuan, a fast-growing regional homebuilder in China; and Homex, Mexico's leading homebuilder. A fourth, BR Malls, Brazil's largest retail property owner and operator, is listed on the Bovespa.
Kerry Brown is Professor of Chinese Studies and Director of the Lau China Institute at King’s College, London. He is an Associate of the Asia Pacific Programme at Chatham House, London. From 2012 to 2015 he was Professor of Chinese Politics and Director of the China Studies Centre at the University of Sydney, Australia. Prior to this he worked at Chatham House from 2006 to 2012, as Senior Fellow and then Head of the Asia Programme. From 1998 to 2005 he worked at the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office, as First Secretary at the British Embassy in Beijing, and then as Head of the Indonesia, Philippine and East Timor Section. He previously graduated from Cambridge University and has a Ph D in Chinese politics and language from Leeds University. He is the author of almost 20 books on modern Chinese politics. He has recently been awarded the China Cultural Exchange Person of the Year.
Dr Linda Yueh is Fellow in Economics, St Edmund Hall, Oxford University and Adjunct Professor of Economics, London Business School. She is also Visiting Professor at LSE IDEAS and Chair of the LSE Economic Diplomacy Commission. Her latest book, The Great Economists: How Their Ideas Can Help Us Today, was The Times’s Best Business Books of the Year, and Newsweek magazine’s Best Books of the Year.

She read Architecture at the Bartlett School of Architecture in London and then completed her MBA in Imperial College, London.

Mark Chamieh is a managing director at PGIM Real Estate and global head of Business Development for PGIM’s real estate and private equity businesses. Mark is based in London.
PGIM Real Estate is one of the largest real estate investment managers in the world, offering a broad range of real estate equity, real estate debt, agriculture and impact strategies globally. Mark is a member of PGIM Real Estate’s Global Management Council, the Global Investment Committee, the Global Operating Council and the Global Product Committee.
Mark also leads the coordination of client relationship management and business development between PGIM and Montana Capital Partners (mcp) –a USD3 billion Swiss-based secondaries private equity manager focused on the small and mid-cap market in the United States, Europe and Asia Pacific. Mark is a member of mcp’sboard of directors.
Previously, Mark served as managing director and global head of equity capital markets for JER Partners, responsible for building and managing JER’s capital markets team, while overseeing global investor relations and capital raising activities.

As part of the Strategic Insights team, Richard works alongside the organisation’s global research, proptech and innovation functions. Since joining the firm in 2015, Richard has supported the organization setting a target to achieve Net Zero Carbon by 2040. This commitment responds to and supports the ambitious goals for sustainable real estate established at the 21st annual Conference of Parties (COP21) held in Paris in September 2015. He also supports the organisation to develop investment guidelines related to physical and transition climate change risk, as set out in the Taskforce on Climate Related Financial Disclosure Framework.

Oliver is focused on accelerating a zero-carbon economy for real assets and has helped implement exciting net-zero strategies over the past ten years. Decarbonisation programmes have included initiating a smart building programme that won over 15 awards in 24 months and supporting around GBP150B of real estate AUM.
Oliver sits on the AREF ESG committee and the IIGCC real estate working group and supports other BBP REEB, GRESB, and UK-GBC initiatives. Oliver’s work on the Sustainable Disclosure Regulation and other critical industry issues led him to be nominated for the AREF outstanding contribution award in 2022.

As SVP, she overlooked Partnerships, Investment and Real Estate Asset Management of a CAD $69bn portfolio accompanied by teams operating from Canada, Europe, Asia and Latin America. Moreover, she was a member of the Executive Committee, Chair of the Global Asset Management Committee and a member of the Internal Investment Committee. Throughout her mandate, she was a key initiator for the implementation of ESG initiatives as part of value creation and Digital transformation.
Prior to this role, she was SVP Asset Management of the CAD $16bn Residential portfolio, located mostly in the USA and the UK. Over the last twenty (20) years at Ivanhoé Cambridge, she occupied various leadership positions playing a key role in building the company’s growth and developing strong relations with the operating partners and fund managers.
Martine began her career in Project Management of development projects; mostly master planned communities and housing, which were either for rent or for sale, and Senior Living.
Martine holds a postgraduate diploma from HEC-Montreal (DSA/MBA program), a Bachelors in Urban Planning from Université de Montréal and a Directors Education Program Certificate from McGill University. In addition, she is member of the Canadian Institute of Corporate Directors and Canadian Institute of Planners.
Martine is involved in various nonprofit boards and caritative activities. Furthermore, she is a lecturer at Université de Montréal in the course of the M.Sc. International Project Management program.
Kari Pitkin

Andrew has been a journalist for his entire career, starting out on trade press titles before joining the national press and a brief spell at the BBC. He launched his own business focused on providing high level information on a subscription basis after despairing at the quality of what the old business model of selling advertising space was producing.
Andrew holds a BSc in economics and a MA in journalism. He lives in Cambridge with his wife and three children.

François has over 25 years of experience in the Finance and Real Estate sector and was previously CEO of Asia Pacific for GE Capital Real Estate International, also serving as President & CEO for GE Capital Real Estate Japan. Before that, François worked as Development Manager for Tishman Speyer Properties in New York and Berlin and Associate Fixed Income at Goldman Sachs Group in London. François has built a strong reputation in the market and is a thought leader in the industry. He is an ULI Global Governing Trustee, a regular contributor to real estate media, and an engaged moderator and panellist at industry events. François is a graduate of ESCP in Paris and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Debbie is an urbanist with 20+ years’ professional experience, working with and connecting businesses, government and people to unlock better city-making at all scales.
She joined the developer and investor Fabrix in February 2022 and leads on the company’s contribution to enhancing urban environments and strengthening its position as London’s most progressive developer.
Prior to Fabrix, she was part of the team that launched New London Architecture in 2005 and played an instrumental role over 16 years establishing the organisation as the pre-eminent centre for debate about London’s built environment. She became its first director in 2010 and managing director in 2019, overseeing the growth of NLA’s unrivalled public and private sector network of over 500 membership organisations.
She is passionate about shaping better cities for all and tackling the lack of diversity across the industry, as well as the significant decline of public trust in development. She sat on the Mayor’s Fund’s Built Environment Steering Group – focussed on making the industry more inclusive to young Londoners from low socio-economic backgrounds – and is one of Mentoring Circle’s mentors, supporting younger women in the industry.
She has been heavily involved in the London Festival of Architecture since its inception in 2004 – the annual public celebration of the city which aims to democratise the conversation about architecture and bring it to the widest possible audience – and is also a Critical Friend to the arts charity UP Projects.

James Wong is the Executive Director of the Chinney Group. The Group’s four publicly listed Hong Kong subsidiaries: Hon Kwok Land (0160.hk), Chinney Investments (0216.hk), Chinney Alliance (0385.hk), and Chinney Kin Wing (1556.hk) are focused on high-tech Engineering and Real Estate. The businesses range from building their own 80-storey Hon Kwok Tower in Shenzhen to developing and operating Hong Kong’s largest data center to installing the air traffic control radar at the Hong Kong Airport. This 2900+ person family business was founded by his great grandfather in Nanjing in the 1920’s to build China’s railway system.
He split his childhood between the US, Canada, and Hong Kong. After graduating from the University of Washington, he went on to earn a master’s degree from the Florida Institute of Technology in Information Systems Engineering as well as a Juris Doctor from the University of California, Hastings College of Law. Before joining his family business in 2010, James held positions variously as a lawyer on Toyota’s eDiscovery team in Torrance, California, and as a tax lawyer at Baker and McKenzie (Los Angeles/Hong Kong) and Price Waterhouse Coopers (San Francisco).
He served as a delegate to the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference for Jiangsu Province until 2018. In addition, he serves on the Board of Trustees of the Florida Institute of Technology (otherwise called NASA U) where he is also an adjunct professor teaching Business and Healthcare Law and was the 2018 Outstanding Alumni Award winner. Currently he serves as a Global Governing Trustee for the Urban Land Institute, as well as on the International Advisory Board of the Essec Business School in Paris. He is one of the founders of the Seattle I-District Asian Street Fair (now in its 35th Season) and created Seattle’s first-ever Computer Dating Dance in 1983. His MENSA membership dates from 1980.
