About

DLA Piper's Middle East Real Estate Summit is a half day event bringing together industry leaders for an insightful discussion on the key trends and issues driving change, creating opportunities for growth, challenging market participants and shaping the future of real estate in the Middle East. The Summit harnesses DLA Piper's many years' experience working across all aspects of the sector both in the Middle East and globally and builds upon successful Real Estate Summits hosted by DLA Piper in the USA and Europe.

Previous Middle East Real Estate Summits, held in Dubai in November 2016 and February 2018 brought together over 200 asset managers, investors, developers, banks and corporate occupiers from throughout the region. Supported by CBRE, JLL and Knight Frank, the Summits provided a valuable networking platform and the opportunity to hear from a distinguished list of speakers as to their views on what it takes to achieve continued success in the ever-changing high-stakes world of commercial real estate.

Cities of the future: The role of technology

The pace of technological change continues to increase, with major implications for how we live and work and the consequent form of our cities and the buildings within them.
Moderator: Craig Plumb
Ghazi Atallah, Rob Devereux and Daniel Parry

Two contrasting views of the future are often portrayed – the first, a positive view based on human experience and happiness, the second, suggesting that technology will reduce the need for human interaction and the number of jobs required.

In this session we explore both of these views. What impact is technology having on the creation of smart cities? And how is the industry responding to these challenges?

Hear from some of the experts responsible for delivering the next generation of commercial buildings as to what they are doing to ensure the Middle East remains globally competitive in the face of new technology.

Join our panel of leading developers, contractors, financiers and consultants as we discuss and debate the evolution of procurement and delivery of construction projects across the GCC and where it is going next.
