Sam Zell is the Chairman of Equity Group Investments (EGI), the private investment firm he founded more than 40 years ago. The firm's investments span industries and continents and include interests in finance, energy, transportation, communications, health care and real estate. Mr. Zell is recognized as a founding father of today's public real estate industry after creating three of the largest REITs in history.
He is also Founder and Chairman of Equity International, a private investment firm focused on building real estate-related businesses in international emerging markets. Mr. Zell has been particularly active in bringing Equity International's companies to the public markets.
Three of these investments are listed on the New York Stock Exchange: Gafisa, a leading homebuilder in Brazil; Xinyuan, a fast-growing regional homebuilder in China; and Homex, Mexico's leading homebuilder. A fourth, BR Malls, Brazil's largest retail property owner and operator, is listed on the Bovespa.
Paul brings 25 years of industry experience to the Firm and is a member of the Firm’s Investment Committee. As Chief Executive Officer of Europe, based in London, he leads the expansion of Harrison Street’s European strategies and is responsible for overseeing and growing the Firm’s team of professionals across the UK and Europe.
Prior to joining Harrison Street, Paul was most recently President and Chief Operating Officer at Round Hill Capital, a real estate investment and asset management firm with a global footprint. While at Round Hill Capital, he managed a business with a $8+ billion portfolio as well as a team of 260 people across 15 offices in 14 countries. He has overseen investment and development projects, regulatory approvals, complex refinancings and capital raises in multiple European locations across a wide array of real estate asset sectors including retail, commercial, residential and student housing. Prior to joining Round Hill, Paul served as a Partner at Aggmore Group, where he was responsible for raising and deploying over €500 million of new capital and developed JV partnerships with European operators in the residential and commercial real estate space. Earlier he served as Chief Operating Officer at North Bridge Capital Partners Ltd. he began his career at KPMG LLP as a senior manager in the transaction services department.
Paul earned a BA in Accounting and Financial Analysis from Newcastle University. He is ACA qualified and is a member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
Mark is a Property Developer with over 20 years of experience in both delivering large and complex regeneration projects in London as well as managing operational businesses underlined by Real Estate investment and development.
Mark has managed over 30 projects with a combined value of over £3.5bn, including the successful delivery of the 5-acre site assembly, planning process and construction for Hawley Wharf in Camden.
In 2017 Mark founded Marstead Living - community and hospitality-driven specialised housing for the ageing demographics, which delivers modern and thoughtfully designed homes for a retired generation who seek social engagement and an active lifestyle in a full amenity environment.
Mark is a Chartered Architect and hold a BArch from Oxford and an MSc in Urban Design from The Bartlett School of Architecture at UCL.
Lowell Baron is the Chief Investment Officer and a Managing Partner in Brookfield’s Real Estate Group, responsible for Brookfield’s global real estate investment activities. He has held several senior roles across the organization, including overseeing the establishment of Brookfield’s multifamily and hospitality operating platforms, and its growth into alternative real estate sectors.
Prior to joining Brookfield in 2005, Mr. Baron worked at Deutsche Bank where he focused on real estate private equity and investment banking. Mr. Baron holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Yeshiva University.
Abbe Franchot Borok is Managing Director and Head of US Debt for BentallGreenOak (BGO). In her role, Abbe has overall responsibility for the BGO U.S. Debt business, including management of all core, core plus and high yield debt strategies. Abbe also leads the management and business development activities for the U.S. Debt business.
Abbe has over a decade of experience in the Commercial Real Estate Capital Markets and Investment Management space. Most recently, Abbe was Managing Director and Head of CRE & Debt Strategies at The Amherst Group. In this role, Abbe was responsible for launching and managing two CRE Debt investment vehicles and overseeing capital markets activity across Amherst’s Debt and Equity businesses. Prior to joining Amherst Capital, Abbe was a senior member of the NYC-based Commercial Real Estate Lending team at CapitalSource, a division of Pacific Western Bank. Abbe has broad experience in sourcing and underwriting commercial real estate debt, with a focus on high yield loans backing transitional or value add business plans.
Abbe holds an MBA from Columbia University and a BA in Communications from the University of Pennsylvania. She is a member of the Board of Governors of CREFC, most recently serving as co-Chair of the HYDRA Forum. Abbe also serves as a member of the mentorship committee for WX, which promotes and supports women in commercial real estate, and a frequent speaker and panel participant at industry events.
Richard ("Rick") Chesley practices in the areas of corporate restructuring with an emphasis on bankruptcy transactions, both in the United States and internationally. In addition, he handles litigation matters throughout the country stemming from bankruptcy proceedings.
Rick served as Co-Chair of the US Restructuring Group and Global Co-Chair of the Restructuring practice group for a number of years; and was appointed as the Co-US Managing Partner of the firm in April 2020.
Simon recently joined the Urban Land Institute (ULI) as Vice President, Research & Advisory Services, where he is responsible for managing its innovative research agenda covering the key issues shaping the future of the real estate industry including climate change and sustainability, investment and development trends and shifts in demography and technological change.
Prior to joining ULI, Simon specialised in research on global cities and real estate for Grosvenor, one of the world’s largest privately-owned international property businesses. Simon’s role involved undertaking analysis on global city developments to inform the company’s long-term strategy and thinking on cities. He has undertaken major research projects on megatrends for real estate, examining topics such as urbanisation, demographic change, digital disruption and climate change.
Simon also has previous experience working in urban planning, economic development and strategic consulting for the retail sector. He holds an MSc in Urban Economic Development from The Bartlett Development Planning Unit, University College London.
Jay Epstien represents local and national owners, developers and users in all aspects of real estate transactions involving urban office buildings, shopping centers and mixed-use projects.
He has been the lead lawyer on many of the largest downtown office leases in Washington, DC, representing both landlords and tenants, including numerous law firms that have sought his counsel. He has represented major corporations in corporate real estate facilities matters throughout the United States, involving major corporate relocations and disposition of significant existing facilities. Jay is also an active practitioner in the shopping center industry.
Jay is a fellow of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers, serving as President in 2018, and a member of the ICSC Law Conference Program Committee, where he served as chair of the 2010 ICSC Law Conference.
Tal Hauptmann is the Head of International Real Estate Investments in Migdal Insurance Company Ltd., responsible for Migdal's global real estate equity investments.
Prior to joining Migdal in 2022, Mr. Hauptmann worked in Menora Mivtachim Insurance as Head of Real Estate Investments. Prior to joining Menora, Mr. Hauptmann was the VP of Operation of Delek Global Real Estate, heading the asset management side of its European Portfolio based in London and in Israel. Mr. Hauptmann started his career in Bear Stearns on the CMBS origination team in London.
Mr. Hauptmann holds an MSc in Finance from Cass Business School and a BSc in Business Studies from Cass Business School in London.
Manfred is Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Realyze Ventures a venture capital firm investing in early stage startups across Europe that drive the transition of the real estate industry.
After his financial education, he experienced the visionary way of working of global early-stage investors and their success criteria at a fund of funds of Deutsche Bank Private Equity. Immediately thereafter, he was able to apply this valuable experience in building ADC, an investment company focused on infrastructure and financial investments, catalyzing the business through technological add-on acquisitions. Subsequently, Manfred was instrumental in not only placing this company on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, but ultimately selling it to Atlas Mara, a Special Purpose Acquisition Company (SPAC). His next stop took him back to his roots, the search for spectacular business models. Together with the company builder crossbuilders, he implemented several real estate start-up ideas and developed, among other things, the basis for today’s “Commerzbank Baufi-App”. With a view on realizing the chances of digitization in the real estate industry he co-founded BitStone Capital as one of the most active proptech investment firms in the DACH region, where he still serves as Managing Partner besides his role at Realyze Ventures.

Shari Helft Lennon concentrates her practice in the area of commercial real estate law.
She represents individuals, REITs, real estate private equity funds and other institutional clients in a broad range of commercial real estate transactions involving acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, management and development of various property types throughout the country.
Shari's representation for clients, includes the negotiation of construction, mezzanine and general secured real estate financings, loan workouts and restructurings and the negotiation of large commercial office leases. She specializes in single asset and large portfolio acquisitions and dispositions of various types of asset classes for purchase prices reaching up to US$1 billion, including, in particular, senior housing projects, student housing projects, medical office and life science buildings, and storage facilities across the United States.
Linda J. Isaacson is Partner and Head of ESG & Impact at ACRE. She is responsible for leading the firm's environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices and ensuring that ongoing investment decisions, operational actions, and overall business philosophy reflect its core principles and those of its investors.
Isaacson also serves as Chair of ACRE's Venture and Impact Capital vertical. Working with the firm's Founding Partners to form and manage investment vehicles, Isaacson focuses on early-stage companies and technologies that create social impact and disruption related to the built environment, sustainable communities, climate tech, health tech, and others emerging priorities.

A native of South Africa, Ms. Isaacson is a graduate of the University of Miami and holds a master's degree from Boston University. Isaacson is an active Venture & Impact Investor and an avid runner. She has a Certificate from The Wharton School Aresty Institute of Executive Education in Business Analytics and a Certificate from Stanford Center for Professional Development and Stanford Online, VCUnlocked, Silicon Valley.
Paul is based in the London office and has experience in all aspects of commercial real estate, with particular emphasis on investment and corporate occupier work. He advises a wide range of clients on their real estate transactions and strategy and often leads multi practice teams of lawyers on complex deals. Paul is heavily involved in cross border work in the Americas, EMEA and Asia Pac.
Paul has a special interest in sustainability in the built environment and disruption in the real estate industry. He leads DLA Piper's Green Real Estate team, innovating and developing suites of documentation and best practice in this dynamic area, including the creation of a UK Green Lease and advising both investors and occupiers on their sustainability strategy.
Paul is the client relationship partner for Unicef UK.
Paul has been at the forefront of developing DLA Piper's work involving business from Israel. He acts for many clients based in Israel as they embark on diverse business opportunities around the world. Paul manages the relationship with several Israeli clients in relation to their global business and also assists clients from outside of Israel looking for partners or advisers in Israel.
Nina Kampler has over 35 years of industry experience as a lawyer, broker, restructuring advisor and leasing expert. She formed Kampler Advisory Group in 2012 to provide opportunistic value-add advisory services to the retail real estate industry. Nina deploys her unique combination of legal and analytical skills, deep market knowledge, vast network of curated relationships, keen ability to discern fine-tuned trends in the consumer goods industry and real estate marketplace, and her rich familiarity with the retail real estate landscape throughout the USA, to resolve retail real estate situations.
From 2010 through 2012, she was Senior Managing Director of CBRE’s Retail Services Group, managing the New York Tri-State retail brokerage platform and heading the Urban Retail Group in the Americas, integrating the high-street retail practice across the US with the practice groups in Europe.
Prior to CBRE, Ms. Kampler served as Executive Vice President for Hilco Real Estate from 2004 to 2010. She directed their strategic retail and corporate solutions group and led retail business development. Ms. Kampler collaborated with major national and international retailers and commercial companies to implement real estate portfolio restructuring strategies, and includes Starbucks, Tumi, and GEOX, amongst her clients.
Previous to that, she spent 16 years at Polo Ralph Lauren Corporation, serving as their Vice President, Retail and Real Estate Counsel. In that capacity, she negotiated all store and corporate real estate transactions throughout the U.S. and Canada. She also held the position of acting General Counsel for Club Monaco.
Previous to Polo Ralph Lauren, Nina practiced law at Coudert Brothers and Richards & O’Neil, both in New York.
Ms. Kampler is a member of the ICSC US Law Conference Committee, has served on both the Advisory Board of the Georgetown University School of Law Advanced Commercial Leasing Institute and the Board of Governors (founding member) of the National Retail Tenants Association. She has also served as Associate Dean of the School of Retailing of the University of Shopping Centers at Wharton. She is a frequent panelist, lecturer and guest columnist for many organizations, including ICSC, ICSC Law Forum Europe, Shopping Center Roundtable, NYU Stern School of Business MBA program, Reuters Consumer and Retail Summit, New York State and New York City Bar Associations and other industry conferences and publications.
Nina is a graduate of New York University School of Law and the University of Pennsylvania, where she received both a B.A., summa cum laude, and an M.A. in International Politics.
Philip has over 35 years’ experience in the real estate and fund management industries, operating at the highest levels of leadership across the Asia Pacific region. He has worked for global real estate private equity firms such as LaSalle and Blackstone, in a variety of capital raising and management roles.
In 2013 he was appointed CEO of SGX listed Cambridge Industrial Trust (now known as ESR REIT) and in November 2017 he successfully led Cromwell European REIT (a EUR1.3bn diversified SGX listed REIT) through the IPO process.
In 2018, Philip established Penmount Partners (Penmount), a real estate focused corporate advisory firm providing targeted capital markets solutions for clients operating the public and private real estate sectors.
He is the author of “Three Peaks Leadership – How to make it as a CEO (and Beyond)” an experiential guide to attaining and thriving in the top job, and how to exit gracefully.
Mentoring and advising senior leaders on the development of their strategic plan and facilitating its execution, is a mainstay of Philip’s advisory activities. He sits on several Advisory Boards including HOPE Housing, a “for purpose” venture dedicated to assisting essential services workers achieve their rightful place on the housing ladder.
As an active investor in early stage PropTech ventures, Philip brings a combination of industry experience and management expertise to the leadership team, participating in the establishment of the Governance protocols and disciplines that assist in ensuring an entity’s long-term success.
Philip is a commercial helicopter pilot and an active member of Disaster Relief Australia, through his long association with the Royal Australian Navy.
Jeremy Lustman helps lead the firm’s global Israel Country Group. Jeremy spends much of his time physically on the ground in Israel, where he has developed a strong international network of Israeli companies, investors, entrepreneurs, bankers, accountants and local lawyers. He currently coordinates and helps lead DLA Piper's development efforts and initiatives cultivating international business emanating from Israel, serves as a liaison for Israeli clients seeking legal guidance in non-Israeli jurisdictions where DLA Piper has a presence, and provides guidance to non-Israeli clients evaluating business relationships and strategic partners within Israel.
Jeremy directly represents and oversees a significant number of key Israeli relationships that have touched upon more than 35 different international jurisdictions and more than 40 DLA Piper global offices. These clients cover virtually all sectors of the Israeli economy, including leading venture capital and private equity funds, institutional real estate investors and multiple companies in the biotech, high tech (software, Internet and semiconductors), telecommunications, industrial, food/beverage, agro-tech, defense, homeland security and gaming sectors.
In addition, Jeremy maintains a focused US-component of his practice that operates at the intersection of corporate, real estate and hospitality law. He assists public and private companies, private equity funds and cash flow lenders in business transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, senior and mezzanine debt financings, equity investments and joint ventures. In addition, Jeremy has significant experience in the hospitality industry, including transactions on hotels involving franchise and management portfolios (development and ongoing operations) as well as joint ventures and equity investments in hotel/resort projects. Sandeep Mathrani has served as WeWork’s Chief Executive Officer and as a member of WeWork’s board of directors since February 2020. He was elected Chairman of the Board for WeWork on March 29, 2022. Mr. Mathrani most recently served as Chief Executive Officer of Brookfield Properties’ Retail Group and Vice-Chairman of Brookfield Properties. Prior to that, he served as Chief Executive Officer of GGP Inc. for eight years, during which the company was capitalized in November 2010, experienced eight years of growth, and in August 2018 was sold to Brookfield Property Partners. Prior to joining GGP in 2010, Mr. Mathrani was President of Retail for Vornado Realty Trust, where he oversaw the firm’s U.S. retail real estate division and operations in India comprised principally of office properties. During his tenure, he was responsible for stabilizing and growing the portfolio. Before that, he spent eight years as Executive Vice President at Forest City Ratner, where he was tasked with starting and growing a new platform of retail properties across the five boroughs of New York City. Mr. Mathrani currently serves as a member of the board of directors of Dick’s Sporting Goods, Tanger Factory Outlet Centers, Inc. and Bowlero. He also serves on the Management Committee of WeWork Capital Advisors LL. Previously, Mr. Mathrani served as a member of the board of directors of Host Hotels & Resorts, Inc. and was the 2019 Chair of NAREIT. Sandeep also served on the executive board and the board of trustees for the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). Mr. Mathrani earned a Bachelor of Engineering, a Master of Engineering, and a Master of Management Science from Stevens Institute of Technology.
Fabian Mühlen focuses on complex real estate transactions. He is equally familiar with share deal and asset deal structures. He advises international and national financial investors on sale-and-lease-back transactions, portfolio transactions and project developments as well as purchasers and banks in connection with acquisition finance.
Besides his real estate transactional experience, Fabian advises real property owners on all matters relating to asset and facility management, starting with the conclusion of lease agreements, the arrangement and negotiation of agreements with project managers, development and construction companies, legal advice during construction works and real estate related litigation.
Fabian is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS).
William Naunton has acted for a variety of fund managers and institutional investors for many years in their direct real estate portfolios. He is experienced in all aspects of commercial real estate, including investment, development, joint ventures and structured real estate transactions.
Jonathan Ross is Managing Director and Head of Insurance Solutions for BentallGreenOak (BGO). In his role, Jonathan has overall responsibility for spearheading BGOs Insurance Solutions initiative. Jonathan also leads Israel coverage for the BGO capital raising team.
Prior to joining BGO Jonathan was Head of International Real Estate for Migdal Insurance, one of Israel’s largest institutions. There he was responsible for all aspects of the International Real Estate strategy in the investment division including strategy design and execution, acquisitions, dispositions and asset management.
Before Migdal, Jonathan was VP Investments at Profimex, a real estate investment firm catering primarily HNW individual investors.
Jonathan initially came to Israel in 1991, where he served as one of the architects of the traded options market of the TASE. Following the opening of the options market, Jonathan spent the next decade in trade and structuring of derivatives, structured products and securitization.
Jonathan holds a BGS from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He is a certified Investment Portfolio Manager from the Israel Securities Authority.
Gabriel is the co-founder and the CEO of LeasePilot, a cloud-based software provider that helps commercial real estate companies draft, revise and abstract their leases faster.
Since founding LeasePilot in 2015, Gabriel has helped leading real estate companies like Brixmor, Healthpeak and STAG Industrial institutionalize their largely manual and paper-based leasing processes into fast, efficient and transparent digital workflows.
Prior to founding LeasePilot, Gabriel practiced law at firms such as Bingham McCutchen, Goulston & Storrs and Saul Ewing.
Walter is the Managing Partner of Shelter Rock Capital Group, a leading real estate placement agent headquartered in New York City. Shelter Rock assists real estate owner/operators and investment managers access capital globally for funds (both closed ended and open ended), joint ventures, separate accounts and recapitalizations. Walter has over 25 years of real estate related experience, including over 20 years focused on capital raising for funds and joint ventures sponsored by private investment firms, real estate operating companies and public REITs. Investors in these vehicles have included public and corporate pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, foundations, endowments, insurance companies, commercial banks, family offices and other institutional and accredited investors. Prior to founding Shelter Rock, he was a Managing Director and co-founder of Greenhill’s Real Estate Capital Advisory group where he led project management and origination. Walter was previously a Managing Director, Co-Head and a founding member of the Credit Suisse Real Estate Private Fund Group (“REPFG”), which he joined in 2000 at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette (“DLJ”) prior to its merger with Credit Suisse. Prior to the formation of REPFG in 2000, he was with DLJ’s Commercial Mortgage Group where he focused on the origination, underwriting and structuring of multi-family and commercial mortgages. Earlier in his career, Walter was with the Ernst & Young Kenneth Leventhal Real Estate Group where he specialized in distressed debt valuation, feasibility studies and strategic planning.

Gabi is Head of EMEA and APAC Real Assets Specialists in Nuveen’s Global Client Group and is responsible for capital raising efforts for the firm’s Real Assets platform, incorporating real estate, infrastructure, natural capital and commodities. She and her team are focused on developing and enhancing client and consultant relationships across the real assets sector, working closely alongside Nuveen’s broader sales team.
Prior to joining the firm in 2019, Gabi worked at Tishman Speyer, responsible for client relationships and capital raising activities across EMEA. Before joining Tishman Speyer, she was director of institutional business with Henderson Global Investors and worked at Jones Lang Wootton and LaSalle Investment Management.
Gabi graduated with an M.A. in Modern Languages from Oxford University.
Rafi has been the VP International Real Estate at the Azrieli Group, including the Data Centers division, since October 2010.
Prior to joining the Azrieli Group, Rafi worked in roles of increasing responsibility at Elad Canada Group, a Canadian real-estate company, most recently as VP of the Quebec region, leading the activity in the Quebec region including managing a large portfolio of residential units, office, and Retail properties. During his tenure Rafi also served as CFO of Elad Canada Group for several years. Prior to that Rafi held roles of increasing responsibility at PwC in both Israel and Canada.
Rafi is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA, ISR) and holds a BA in Economics and Accounting from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
Jay Zwiebel is Executive Managing Director of Harbor Group International (“HGI”) and a member of HGI’s Executive, Investment, and Credit Committees. He works extensively with HGI’s overseas institutional investors and is actively involved in the company’s non‐U.S. investment initiatives.
Mr. Zwiebel joined HGI in 2003 from Volovelsky, Dinstein, Sneh & Co., a law firm in Herzliya, Israel, where he was a partner. He represented high‐tech companies and venture capital funds and focused on venture capital investments, mergers & acquisitions, securities, and corporate law. Prior to practicing law, Mr. Zwiebel was a consultant at Meitav Corporate Finance Ltd., where he prepared due diligence reports and valuations for private and public companies.
Mr. Zwiebel graduated cum laude from Yeshiva University with a B.A. in economics and received his law degree from Bar Ilan University. He was a member of the Israeli Bar Association and is retired from the Israeli Air Force as a major.
