Canada Pension Plan Investment Board
Peter Ballon is responsible for CPPIB’s real estate in the Americas, which currently encompasses investments in Canada, the US, Mexico and Brazil. Prior to taking on his current role, Mr. Ballon led the investment teams for the US and Brazil. He is a member of CPPIB’s Real Estate Investment Committee, which has oversight for CPPIB’s global real estate investments and is also a member of the Investment Committee for CPPIB’s debt program.
Mr. Ballon has over more than years of commercial real estate experience. Before joining CPPIB in 2007, he worked with several leading real estate companies, among them Canderel, Brookfield and TrizecHahn. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from McGill University and an MBA from the Ivey School of Business.
The Canada Pension Plan Investment Board is a Toronto-based professional investment management organization with assets under management of $170 billion. The real estate portfolio has an equity value of a$18 billion that is invested primarily in joint ventures. The investments are located around the world, in countries including Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, China, Japan, Mexico and Brazil.
