John R. Klopp

John R. Klopp is a Managing Director of Morgan Stanley and Co-Chief Executive Officer and Co-Chief Investment Officer of Morgan Stanley Real Estate.
From 1997 to 2009, Mr. Klopp was the Chief Executive Officer of Capital Trust, Inc. (NYSE: CT), a publicly traded real estate finance and investment management company that he co-founded. Prior to this, he was the Founder and Managing Partner of Victor Capital Group, L.P. from 1989 until 1997. Mr. Klopp had previously served as Managing Director and Co-Head of Chemical Realty Corporation, the real estate investment banking arm of Chemical Bank.
Mr. Klopp serves as the Chair of Columbia Business School's Real Estate Advisory Committee and is an active member of various real estate organizations, including the Pension Real Estate Association, the Commercial Mortgage Securitization Association and National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts. He received a BA in economics from Tufts University and an MBA in finance and real estate from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
